Resources > Safe Driving Tips > 2 Second Rule
The 2 second rule is a technique for avoiding tailgating and nose to tail crashes.
By keeping a 2 second gap between you and the vehicle in front, you give yourself more time to respond if things change ahead of you.
For example, if the vehicle in front has to stop suddenly or collides with something you will not have time to stop your vehicle and to avoid a crash.
By leaving at least a 2 second gap, your driving will become less stressful.
